My Story

As a young teenager, who grew up in New Orleans, LA, I found myself budgeting my very small summer camp paychecks. I would budget for bus fare, lunch and anything else I needed in order to not have to ask my mom for money. You see, I’m the oldest of 6 children and my mom spent a good portion of our lives as a single parent. So, everything had to be stretched. Since I refused to be a burden, as soon as I could, I got a summer job across town at the tender age of 14.

Fast forward a few years, and the mindset that I developed as a young teenager has continued to stick with me. Over the past decade, I’ve managed to work my way up the corporate ladder, and steadily increased my income. Despite earning a pretty decent salary, my husband can attest to the fact that we have had our share of money struggles. However, the bills were always paid on time and we always managed to keep some sort of savings account, even if it wasn’t much.

After my husband and I had our first child a few years ago, life drastically changed for me. I desperately wanted to stay home to raise this little person. Hence, Money in Matrimony, a community dedicated to changing the narrative around couples and money, was born. I saw this as an opportunity to not only exit the rat race, but to also teach couples what I’ve learned about personal finances, while also being more present in my child’s life. What started out as just a blog, is now flourishing into a business.

My passion for helping others manage their money, build their marriages and change their mindsets was ignited when I would receive phone calls from friends and family asking for advice on these topics. So, I decided to take the financial experience that I already had and couple it with what I’ve learned in order to create a platform geared toward teaching married couples how to communicate about money and build true financial intimacy.

While on this journey, I’ve become an Accredited Financial Counselor through the AFCPE and I am currently a candidate in the Trauma of Money Professional Certification Program. I’ve received several awards and distinctions, but most importantly I’ve helped couples experience a deeper level of connection and reach new heights in their finances.

This has been a roller coaster ride, but I’m in it for the long hall. I’m ready to teach you how to navigate the intricate landscape of love and money. I’m here to serve you!

” My wife and I want to thank you for helping us to set a budget and stick to it. The budget worked so well that we were able to buy our first home! Thank you so much!”

” Before working with Danielle, we were avoidant about managing and understanding our household finances, mostly out of fear. Our circumstances are unique, and at times we felt that it would be impossible to find someone to truly dissect the situation and work with us to build back up. Upon consulting with Danielle, we felt completely reassured by her calm demeanor and dept of knowledge, that she would be able to help us. Since working with her, we have gained the courage to face our challenges and have found creative systems and structures to implement that are changing our financial health and lives for the better. “

” Danielle will help you set and maintain a strong foundation for your marriage and your finances! We have learned so much and she is relatable because she has been where many of her clients are when they come to her. We often end up extending our session time because we both could talk finances all day.”
